I knew Allen in high school. He was such a kind, creative, and funny person. He will always be remembered that way by me, and likely others.

I haven't seen Allen in years due to life, but every memory I had with him at our grandparents was amazing. He was always teaching me something new. I will never forget the times we had.

Allen holding his niece for the first time. Addie absolutely adored her Uncle Allen. The bond that they had was so sweet and special. Whenever he was around, you would find her glued to his side.

October 2020 - North Jetty, Florence, OR 
It was miserably windy this day, but Allen said he couldn’t come to the coast and not see the beach. We climbed to the top of the dunes and Allen looked out and said he was so glad he went out there because it was so beautiful!  He always enjoyed the drive down to Florence. And you know he brought his bike to ride along the famous Oregon coast bike route!

Visiting Allen in Washington on our move to Oregon. I was so excited to be living closer to him. Peyton and Wesley looked up to their uncle so much!

Allen was one of those people who lit up the room when he walked in. His smile was contagious and you couldn’t help but smile when he was around. 

 I am so sad that my time was cut short with him, but I am so grateful to have had Allen as my brother. No matter what I did in life, he always loved me and supported me. I knew no matter what, he would always be there for me. He was one of a kind and truly an amazing man.

Allen has taught me many things in life, but I think he would say the most important thing he taught me was how to make a good cup of coffee! I laughed so hard when he showed up at my house with his own coffee beans, grinder, and coffee maker. I knew I wasn’t brewing the worlds best coffee, but man, I didn’t think it was that bad! Last year when he was visiting, I guess he couldn’t take it anymore and he purchased all the things I needed and taught me how to make his perfect cup of coffee.  I start each day with coffee and I will forever think of him as I make it.

Losing Allen left a big hole in my heart that will never go away. My heart breaks not only for myself, but for my parents, his son, and his significant other. 

As a parent myself, I could not begin to imagine the devastation and pain my parents feel. Mom, Dad, please know that you two are amazing parents! You’ve shown Allen and I nothing but love. He and I spent many phone calls talking about our childhood memories and how lucky we were. Allen loved you so much! 

Sweet nephew, never forget that you were your dads world! He loved showing off pictures of you and telling stories about the funny things you did. He wanted nothing but the best for you. 

To his partner, you made him so happy! He would light up every time he spoke to you or about you.  The love that you two had was so special! 

As the days pass, I am able to cry less and smile more at the wonderful memories we made together, but I will never stop missing him.

To Allen's parents I am deeply sorry for your loss we will all miss him very much. 
I will share this story with you. Allen and I were not much for taking pictures. Allen and I had been friends since 5th grade.
I think it was sophomore year of high school spring break I had somehow talked Allen into going down to the Okefenokee swamp camping with me for spring break.  This was a guy who did not like spiders and bugs, yet some how I talked him into taking my canoes and going camping for several days in a place that was wall too wall bug central.  We had spent the day canoeing the sunken swamp forest. 
 That night we camped. We had made dinner and let the fire die down to just red coals as we were getting close to turning in for the night. I didn't have proper camp chairs. We were using some old  green aluminum padded stadium chairs with backs on them.  They were enough to keep you a few inches off the ground and you could lean way back in them. That night we were talking about life, under a perfectly clear sky watching all the stars. 
The next thing I know is there is a horbal blood curtailing scream coming from Allen. I was terrified. There were so many dangerous things in the swamp. Did a bear have a hold of him or perhaps a large alligator or swamp panther.  I grabbed a large chunk of fire wood and a flashlight ready to fight for our lives.  I shined the light over on Allen and what sort of man eater did I find? I found an armadillo half way up his pant leg  and Allen doing a dance that I had never before or since seen another man do. As Allen was able to free him self from the feared man eater I began to laugh. Allen did not find the situation funny at first but after several minutes we were both dieing laughing. That night we made extra sure the tent was tightly zipped shut.  
I'm going to miss you Allen. We just talked for an hour the Sunday before you were gone.

I send all my condolences to his wife and child, Mike, Suki, Monica, Raymond, Peyton, and Wesley, and to all of his friends.  I’m so sorry for your loss. Allen had a good heart and a way of making folks smile. Far too young.

This was a beautiful trip yet terribly emotionally painful.

He splashed a mean cannonball off the top of pontoon boats.

He had a 12 second lead here. Steilacoom I think. He quit smoking cigarettes and took up cycling. He really loved riding his bicycles.

He had an unquellable sense of adventure. Backpacking the Washington Coast to Toleak Point

He had a great laugh and an unforgettable sense of humor.

Many creatures were pulled towards him like a magnet. Ooma the rescued baby owl monkey included. She fell out of a tree at an eco lodge in the Amazon rainforest (Tambopata River, a large estuary).

He wanted to learn the violin. Barbra the cat supported his music endeavors 100%.
