Allison Biddle, the youngest of Brooks & Mona Biddle’s four children, loved to reminisce about her wonderful childhood experiences. Ski trips, Christmas with her grandparents on Maui, horseback riding with her adored companion “Blue”, competitive swimming, and time spent on Hood Canal in the summer were just some of the highlights. She looked forward to and loved opportunities to bring family together around holidays and celebrations, big and small. She is survived by her three siblings, Brooke Anne Kennaugh, John Biddle, and Duncan Biddle, along with 12 nieces and nephews and 10 grand nieces and nephews.
Allison continued to find joy from her childhood passions, swimming and animals, throughout her adult life. Allison was such a good swimmer she made the Olympics…that is, made the Olympic mountains stare down on her as she effortlessly led a group of swimmers from Eldon to Chinom Point, approximately 1.5 miles across Hood Canal. Her record time, some say, may never be broken. Her brother recalled, in high school, Allison swam against and beat his future wife. After the race, she voiced her admiration; “You never told me Allison was such a great swimmer!” Allison was more than a horseback rider. Her time as a Hunter/ Jumper equestrian always brought smiles to her face and others when she remembered them. Allison adorned her home with equestrian pictures and was an expert in knowing their character and ways: she was a horse whisperer. Being an animal lover led her to care for and adore many beautiful cats later in life. They were her companions and confidants.
Regardless of her talkative nature, her demeanor was one of humility and kindness. She never missed an opportunity to praise someone for their accomplishments, big or small, and reminded them how much they were loved with utmost sincerity. Her ability to see the best in everyone was the same way she looked at life. This was the embodiment of her Christian nature. Allison’s favorite radio listening came from Christian music airwaves. She enjoyed crafting clever and thoughtful handwritten notes and cards to close friends, many of which included encouraging bible passages.
Allison was always so grateful for all the wonderful individuals that provided personal care for her. Although she faced ongoing medical challenges throughout her life, she was never heard complaining about her circumstance. This inspired the people close to her. She had nothing but praise and gratitude for her place in life.
Allison knew Jesus as her Lord and Savior and therefore lived her life without fear. She had a beautiful picture of Jesus by her beside. Although very much saddened by her departure, her family and friends take solace in knowing her life now is eternal, and she is with her beloved parents and family. Who knows… maybe riding her horse with her bathing suit on?
