Andrew “Andy” Alan Hay, 39, passed away on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 in Lynwood. He was born in Ocean City, Washington on January 29, 1980 to Paula Wilkerson and Charles Hay. Andy spent his formative years in New Mexico and Maryland before returning to Washington.
He attended Central Washington University and later pursued a career in financial management. But Andy’s true passion was coaching student athletes in swimming and baseball. He will be remembered by the many baseball players and swimmers he coached over the years at Roosevelt, Eastlake, Juanita and Bellevue High Schools and numerous swim clubs. Under his coaching, Bellevue won consecutive Class 3A state titles in 2015-2016. When he wasn’t coaching, Andy enjoyed spending time with Sara, his wife of 11 years, and with the many close friends he made throughout his life.
Andy is survived by his parents, his sister Karoline, his ex-wife Sara, his aunt Joan Wilkerson and three cousins, Derik, Lana, and Orion Swanson, his aunt Ruth Wilkerson and cousin Ian Gauger-Wilkerson, and his uncle Ron Hay and cousin Heather.
A memorial service will be held at noon on Friday, November 22nd at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 6701 30th Ave SW, in West Seattle. A viewing will be held on November 20th from 10:00 – 2:00 at Forest Lawn.
