

Archie Graham Greenlee, the son of Archie Merrimon and Donna Olive Greenlee (nee Graham), was born on April 24, 1942 in Des Moines, Iowa. He passed away in Seattle, Washington on March 18, 2019. After attending public schools through the ninth grade in Des Moines, his family relocated to Seattle, Washington, where he enrolled in Franklin High school and played on the football team. He graduated from Franklin High School in 1960 and was awarded the Harvey Lanman Scholarship for his academic achievements. He attended the University of Washington, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, and then received his Juris Doctor from the University of Washington School of Law in 1968. After passing the Washington State Bar, he joined his father’s law firm which provided legal services to the local community. He, along with his father, were founding members of the Loren Miller Bar Association and the Washington State Trial Lawyers Association. Archie Graham later decided to strike out on his own as a solo practitioner sharing office space with several other attorneys near the Pike Place Market. In 2018 he was acknowledged by the Washington State Bar Association in recognition of 50 years of distinguished service to the legal profession in the State of Washington. Over his many years of practice, he accumulated a large contingent of grateful clients who were fortunate enough to have benefited from his gifted representation.
Archie Graham was an individual of deep thought and had a variety of interests including photography, nature and the outdoors, travel, science, technology, movies, sports, and politics as well as a good conspiracy theory. He could engage in interesting and meaningful conversation regarding a wide range of subjects relevant to our existence on this planet. He was an avid fan of UW Husky sports and followed the football and basketball teams closely. He enjoyed attending Husky football games and was a season ticket holder for several decades. He played various sports throughout his life, including tennis and golf. He achieved the rank of Black Belt in the Martial Art of Karate, participating in many tournaments during his younger years and going on to become an instructor. He was a true coffee connoisseur and had been a frequent patron of Café Darte, often shared a latte and banana bread with his daughters at Starbucks and spent his mornings at Cedar Park enjoying the coffee and company in the community room.
Archie Graham was the second oldest of seven brothers and was preceded in death by his parents and oldest sibling, Peter A. Greenlee. He is survived by his children Jennifer A. Greenlee, Rachael M. Greenlee, and Christopher R. Pinfield, his Grandsons Justin A. and James C. Greenlee and Granddaughters Elowen and Finley Pinfield, great granddaughter Helen M. Greenlee, the mother of his children, Julia H. Greenlee, his long-time companion, Hyla Saltz-Brown, and her daughters Rita and Marilyn Brown, and sister-in-law Marcia Greenlee. Surviving brothers are W. Frederick Greenlee (Lee), Mitchell T. Greenlee, Christopher H.E. Greenlee (Sue), Nicholas P. Greenlee, and Dennis J. Shields (Aundra). He will also be missed by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and close friends. Archie Graham loved life and was dedicated to his family. He was a wonderful human being who left the world a more positive place by his presence. Loved by many; his humor, intellect, and company will be dearly missed.
