She was a Christmas baby, born December 25th, 1934, in Kaiping, China, to Szeto Kui and Chow U Chung. June went on to spend her early childhood years in Hong Kong, before briefly returning to mainland China for 3 years of college studying physics. From there, her adventures took her to Australia to continue her studies, before finally returning to Hong Kong.
It was in Hong Kong that June was introduced to her future husband Johnny, and they ended up travelling to Honolulu, Hawaii where they lived for nearly 48 years. Because of June’s declining health over the past year, she moved up to Kirkland, Washington to be with her only son, Byzan, and his family.
In her younger years, June played athletics such as basketball, and enjoyed the outdoors. She loved cooking, gardening and sewing. When she became less active, she was usually found on her computer playing online mahjong. Despite her limitations with the English language, she continued to force herself to learn, quite frequently reading her son’s medical journals and other advanced technical articles.
June’s character was the epitome of being kind, selfless and generous. She always gave and never expected anything in return. She sacrificed her own needs to provide for family and friends. But despite her gentle, always pleasant demeanor, her underlying strength and willpower was just as large as her graciousness.
June is survived by her husband, Johnny, her son Byzan and her beloved granddaughter Ava Marie. Her remaining siblings include sisters May Tak, Felicia and Julie; her brothers Leung Hon, Leung Shek and Michael.
