Cinderella B. Sandhu

Cinderella Barkat Sandhu was born to British Army Member Lal Din, and Rosie Din in Delhi, British India on September 13, 1940. Cinderella had one younger brother named Robinson. Growing up, Cinderella enjoyed reading, writing, and was a very bright student. She was an intelligent woman who was particularly fond of poetry and essay writing. She was also a devout Catholic and enjoyed going to church. Cinderella completed her Matric education in Sialkot Convent school in Pakistan in 1958. She started attending Kinnaird College in Lahore. She obtained a Faculty of Arts degree and became a certified teacher in Lahore. In 1965, Cinderella met Barkat Sandhu, the love of her life. Barkat and Cinderella got married the same year, and started their new life together in Lahore, Pakistan. During their journey of marriage, the couple was blessed with three children; Esther Rubina, Alwin Imran, and Melwin Irfan. She started her teaching career at St. Anthony’s School, Lahore as an English and History teacher for a few years. Cinderella moved to St. Joseph’s High School, where she worked as a teacher for many years. As a result of her strong work ethics and capabilities, she was promoted to the position of a Principal in the same school. During her career as a Principal, she helped many deserving Christian students acquire quality education. She worked as a successful Principal till her retirement in 1997. Cinderella was a very loyal Catholic. She always made sure to go to church every weekend and never missed her daily prayers. Cinderella passed her strong Christian values onto her children, and inspired everyone with her love for Christ. As time passed and their kids got married, Cinderella was blessed with 8 beautiful grandchildren. In 2004, Cinderella and Barkat moved to America to be closer to their children. In March 2019, Cinderella was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in her bones. She fought a brave fight, and brushed off the cancer as if it were a common cold. She joined her husband in Heaven on November 23, 2019. She is survived by her daughter, Esther Rubina, sons/daughters-in-law, Alwin & Zubia and Melwin & Shahida, and her 8 grandchildren; Ruth, Naveed, Zibiah, Merab, Aliza, Arella, Ibraham and Salman. She will be remembered by those who loved her, and her lessons and wisdom will live on forever within them.
