Dan was born in Monroe, WA on September 28, 1927 and lived his entire life in the Northwest. He enlisted in the army in February, 1946 shortly after WWII ended. He received the World War II Victory Medal for his service.
He began an apprenticeship with the Printers Union before entering the army. After completing his service in the Army he finished his 6-year apprenticeship in October, 1951. Dan worked his entire career at The Seattle Times before retiring in 1993.
Dan was preceded in death by his first wife, Yvonne, with whom he has two sons, Steven Galbraith and Randy Galbraith. In addition to his sons Dan is survived by his three grandchildren, Ben Galbraith, (Carly), Bridgett Galbraith, (Brad), and Eli Gee, (Nurlam).
He is also survived by his six great grandchildren, Riley, Maddie, Ellie, Georgia, (Ben’s children), and Michael & Easton, (Bridgett’s children).
Dan was preceded in death by his second wife, Marlene in 2001. Dan & Marlene loved to travel, especially cruising. They enjoyed many good years before Marlene passed away from lung cancer.
He married his third wife, Lillie in 2002. Dan & Lillie continued traveling and became snowbirds when they purchased their first motorhome, spending winters in Yuma, Arizona. They also enjoyed several cruises including through the Panama Canal. Dan and Lillie loved life together. Their house was always filled with lots of laughter and music.
Dan and Lillie were sad to quit their snowbird life when Lillie had a stroke in 2017 and never fully recovered.
A private family service of Dan’s inurnment at Acacia Memorial Park on Wednesday, February 17th was held. The family wishes to thank everyone at Acacia for their handling of all the details.
