Danny was born, Pelagio Vega on January 10, 1953 to parents, Pelagio O. Vega and Belen P. Gavino, San Nicolas, Tarlac City, Tarlac, Philippines. He was one of 10 children in the closely knit Vega Family.
He passed away November 27, 2011 in Seattle at the age of 53.
Danny was very studious and he was a consistent valedictorian in school. Danny received his bachelor’s degree from Panigui University (in the Province of Tarlac).
He immigrated to the U.S. in 1976, after which he attended Metropolitan Beauty School and received his Cosmetology Certificate and became a licensed hairdresser. Danny loved to cut hair since he was a teenager – he possessed a natural talent for hair design even before the went to school. He also specialized at the Vidal Sasson Academy.
Danny worked as free-lance hairdresser and make-up artist and traveled far and wide to service his clients at their homes. He was very popular and well-loved by his clients who considered him as a part of their family because of his very loving and kind nature. He later established his own hair salon business, and opened the famous Danny Vega Hair Design on the corner of S. Willow St. and M.L. King Way S., which has been a landmark in that community for 35 years.
He is survived by his siblings; Ted Vega (Rose), Dino Vega (Rose), Valentina Vega (Ben Anstey), Thelma Vega-Galimba (Roger), Manny Vega, Rev. Fr. Gregorio Vega (Roman Catholic Priest), Thomas Vega (Rachel),Titus Vega (Nenita)
He is also survived by his nieces; Doby de los Santos, Yet Scherer, Mari Sandico, Melanie Galimba, May-May Vega and his nephews; Oliver Tiu, Jonathan Tiu, Timothy Vega, Aaron Vega
He is also survived by grandnieces and grandnephews; Miguel delos Santos, Angelo Sandico, Jason McDaniel, Isabel Sandico, Anton Sandico, Isabel Sandico.
Danny was very much loved and he will be greatly missed by his family and all those whose lives he touched.
