I was a among the very lucky people to spend some time with Dave.  Dos Palos best!  His fun spirit and love of life will remain with all the lives he touched.

Condolences to the entire family.  While I didn't know Dave personally, I am from Dos Palos and I am obviously very proud of him and his legacy.  My cousin, Odell Hutton, was his step-father and always attended summer camp with him and as many games as he possibly could.  That speaks volumes!  

Dave is playing with the Heavenly team now but he will be missed dearly by his family and friends who remain behind.

My deepest sympathy and condolences to the Henderson  family. I'm still in shock that my little bro has passed on to the other side. We were known as Two Sticks(Dos Palos) and Wood(Madera) and very proud of it on our first day in the Big Leagues together. Truth be told  some people in baseball thought his smile and humor  showed he didn't care until they witnessed his country  strengths, instincts and knowledge on a baseball field. Turning my back to home plate and getting signs from you on what pitch to deliver next, then laugh about it later always made my day on the mound fun in Seattle. Rest in peace Dodge City cause there will never be another like you. I know you'll keep Vada, Al, and Mitchell laughing from dusk till dawn. Tear the Roof off the Mother Sucka

I had met Mr Henderson in Milpitas,CA when he was with Oakland A's!!  It was quite a surprise recognition on my part!  Mr. Henderson's smile and his presence was very humble but he was quite the gentleman!  He will be forever missed
and may our future athletes learn from
him!!  A very classy man!!!

Dear Nancy and sons...I know that no words may take away the pain that loosing your beloved husband and father brings into your lives... however, I would like to express my sincere condolences for your loss... Dave was a great player indeed, giving 100% of himself to baseball, and no doubt his friends and fans loved him for that... He left a legacy of good games and memories that can be cherished for years to come... Although he is resting now, his memory rest in God's hands... May the God of all comfort be your Source of strength to help endure your grief - for He promises to become "our strength and refuge" in times of need... Please accept my sincere sympathy...

I don't know any fan who won't miss David.  Very likeable - and a good commentator too!

The time I spent with Hendu was easily the best part of my time working in the Terrace Club. What a generous heart, mischievious eyes, and an infectious smile. He always made my day. Even though I was low on the totum pole, he always remembered me. I admit, today I read about his baseball accomplishments for the first time. Impressive, but the man himself was so much greater. I feel so blessed to have had the opportunity to have had time with such a kind, humble, funny, giving person. I aspire to live my life as he did. What an inspiration.

The Seattle Mariners Women's Club extends our condolences to Hendu's family. He was a class act, a gentleman, a kind soul. We will miss him, and his smile.

Those of us that were lucky enough to know you are grieving.. The loss of a Man who did everything in life with a smile.. Who gave more than he took in life.  Who never said NO to helping a charity raise funds.. Arrived early, stayed late, and helped with more than just photos.. He was so encouraging to the Kids Sports..Sometimes too positive CHEERING FOR BOTH TEAMS, the team his son played on and players from opposing teams when they played well..Dave was a CLASS ACT.. Great story teller, Jokester and loyal Father.. Our hearts break for Chase and Trent..  When you tried to teach me to Dance some new dance step to the time you had me hit in a batting cage and I almost knocked you out... Rest in Peace Hendu..

My sincere condolences to the Henderson family. He was an accomplished world class athlete and champion. While words alone cannot erase the pain of his loss maybe God's powerful thoughts at Psalm 121 will provide some relief.

one of the few moments in my life when I completely lost it (in the best of ways possible)...I was living in NYC watching the game by myself and your homer sent me to the window where I stuck my head out of the window and yelled/screamed/cried to anybody within a one block radius of E 89th st...a cherished memory that most certainly has earned you a cherished place in the Big Man's lineup up above...RIP Hendu....You Will Always Be Remembered !

I've been a Red Sox fan for over 48 yrs and regard his HR in game 5 of the '86 ALCS as the greatest in Red Sox history!  Thanks for the memories- - you will be missed!

Dave Henderson was a great man. He was always willing to share his stories and baseball skills with many and crack a joke every now and then. My sisters and I would go to the camps that were held with him in them and we enjoyed the life he put to those camps. He even let me try on his World Series ring!-Jorge II
    He would always figure out a way to put a smile on everyone's face. He was a great influence to my family and others around him.

He really did love the game and he wanted to teach us the love of the game too. He was such a kind man and I will never forget what he had taught me. Today when I had heard that he had past away I was shocked. I did not believe it because it felt like I just saw him yesterday. The first time we met him we were wearing a Dodgers hat and he joked around by saying " ...You...Dodgers" in a jokingly grimmissing funny way,he was funny.(referring to 1988  A's World Series loss)

Dave made me feel like one of the guys I'm just a parent who eats, sleeps and breaths baseball so when I got to hang around him a couple of times at the camps to me it was like being at disney land, I told my kids. We will always remember him and we know he is sitting at the big boys table along with all those World Series champs.(he would tease the MLB alumni including Ken jr, that they had to sit at the little kids table because only players that won the World Series were aloud at the big table with the big boys) funny stuff. He was a great athlete, he brought so much to the game of baseball in general and Red Sox in particular. Loved his enthusiasm and skills. Sad to hear of his passing. A Red Sox fan.

Thanks for the memories Dave.  It was a blast sitting out in centerfield with Hendu"s Bad Boy Club watching you play the game and "just haven' fun".

As a die hard baseball fan I remember Dave real and his home run that advanced Boston in the playoffs off of Donnie Moore, that's another story. Dave was one of my favorite players with The Red Sox. Rest in peace my brother.
