

David had a love of cars, racing and fixing them up; he also enjoyed fishing with his family. Dave was drafted to the Army when he was 24, spent time in Germany and all over Europe
On June 24th , 1966, David married the love of his life Elizabeth Ross whom he met while working at Westing house. They would buy a house in the Northgate neighborhood and raise their three Children there for 54 years. The family enjoyed many great adventures, traveling, vacationing to Port Angeles for camping and fishing, California for the adventures of Disney Land and to Kalama Washington to visit their grandparents.
David enjoyed his home, his yard, his property was his favorite joy, He loved their flowers and the many birds who frequented his bird feeders such as the hummingbirds. He loved to tinker around on all types of projects, fixing cars, lawn mowers, tractors or anything else anyone would ask him to help with he was a jack of all trades.
He was a unique person that would help and give advice to those who wanted it. If something broke, you could call and he would share his thoughts on how to fix it. Stories were always there to be shared from him, and he always had some great ones.
He Loved His Seahawks and watching football. He loved to be challenged in whatever he did.
David is survived by his wife of almost 60 years Elizabeth, son Kirk Calkins and daughters, Dori White and Kari Schatz. Five grandchildren Diana, Kristin, Danae, Zackary and Matthew, and four great grandchildren Daisy, Crew, Sawyer and Langley.
