Donald "Pete" Robert Clayton of Seattle passed away at home on Saturday June 6, 2013 at the age of 81 after a battle with cancer. Pete is survived by his loving wife of 48 years Lois, son Don, daughter-in-law Julie, and grandchildren Tyler Clayton, C. Max Smith, Limmon Johnson.
Pete graduated from Roosevelt High school in 1949 and spent 4 years in the Marine Corps, serving during the Korean War. He worked at Longacres from the age 15 and spent 56 wonderful years in the horseracing industry. He was well-loved and cherished by the entire racetrack community. He also worked many years at a family owned tavern on Lake City Way. He was an avid sports fan, Rainier Beer aficionado, gardener, exercise enthusiast, dedicated husband, proud grandfather, and inspiring father.
No service or memorial is planned for Pete. Donations may be made in his name to Medic One or Evergreen Hospice.
