Born on November 10, 1933, to Henry and Chloe Chiles in Fort Lawton, Washington, Edith, and her older brother Henry, were raised in various locales across the United States while her father served in the U.S. Army.
Edith’s greatest joy in life was her family. As a mother of five, Edith enjoyed hosting family holiday gatherings and spoiling her many grandchildren. She also loved a good book, passing on the love of reading to many of her own children. She took loving care of her husband Richard in his final days and did the same for her mother, ensuring they had the best quality of life.
Most recently, she loved a visit to Shari’s for a slice of pie or a root beer float. Her dry sense of humor was legendary, often exhibited through a sideways glance, or a cocked eyebrow.
As a family, we are grateful for the opportunity to celebrate Edith’s milestone birthday last November, a celebration that included all her children and grandchildren. What a precious memory to reflect on. We are immensely thankful to all the compassionate care providers at Evergreen Hospice Center as they made Edith’s final days as peaceful as possible.
Edith was predeceased by her husband Richard (Dick) Warner, her parents Henry and Chloe, her brothers Howard Chiles and Henry Chiles Jr., and her grandson Patrick DeLosAngeles.
She is survived by her five children: Stephanie Oden of Ontario, Canada; Stephen Lidston and partner Sylvia Erdmann of Vancouver, Washington; Laurie Morris and husband Lyle of Priest River, Idaho; Melodie Heath and husband Rick of Medical Lake, Washington; Linda Warner and husband Eric Zimbehl of Woodinville, Washington. Edith is survived by 9 grandchildren: Stephanie St. Jean (Scott), Brian Morris, Kevin Morris, Heather LaBouy (Brett Zadlo), Svonne Carr (Nick Rasmussen), Jeannette DeLosAngeles, Michelle Bushnell, Holly Pratt (Jim) and Hailey Heath. She is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren: Amanda Carr, Scott Carr, Jr., Cecile St. Jean, Phoenix Morris, Gavin Carr, Josette St. Jean, Jaxon Morris, Lilith Morris, Leisl Morris, Ava Pratt and Ellie Pratt.
A memorial service to honor Edith’s life will be planned for later 2024.
