Ed was the first born to Joseph and Margie Friez on June 13, 1951 in McLaughlin, South Dakota. At three years old Ed contracted tuberculosis meningitis resulting in a coma which impacted the remainder of his life. He started school in McLaughlin, South Dakota. He and his family moved to the Seattle area while in second grade where he continued his education and received his high school diploma from Mountlake Terrace High School in 1971. During high school Ed earned a Letter as a manager for sports.
Ed’s vocational history consisted of various jobs culminating in his employment for the City of Everett. Public transportation enabled Ed the freedom to pursue employment and recreational activities. He excelled in the use of the public transportation systems. While traveling on a bus he met the love of his life and best friend, Glenda. Ed and Glenda became inseparable and were married June 27, 1998. Being married to Glenda were the happiest years of his life. They enjoyed life together through various activities which included volunteering for World Vision, walks together, trips to the mall, attending church and traveling. One of their favorite events was the state and county fairs. In their home, if you visited them you would get a glimpse of their enchantment of Disney by all the characters displayed.
Another highlight in Ed’s life was his church family. He started his spiritual journey accepting Christ at an early age. He always embraced his church life wholeheartedly. Alderwood Community Church was his most recent church family where he enjoyed meeting people serving as an usher. His Men’s Bible Study Fellowship group was a significant part of his spiritual walk. Ed was faithful in his participation and eager to share his experiences with others.
We as Ed’s family would like to thank all those who embraced Ed in his life’s journey.
All are welcome to sign the online guestbook below and leave any messages or stories for the Friez family.
