Elsa Emma (Hellbusch) Going June 26, 1915--February 6, 2015 Born in rural Nance County, Nebraska, she passed away in Seattle, Washington after 99 fruitful years. She made a home many times over, as the wife of construction superintendent, traveling and adapting creatively right up until her final journey. Her family and extended family were her pride and joy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; a daughter, Bonnie; and a grandson, Eric Griesbach. She is survived by a son, Carl (Kathrine), daughter Cate Luke (Greg), six grandchildren: Dave Griesbach, Cate Griesbach, Susan Mitchell (Scott), Linda Hicklin (Barrie), Jennifer Jenkins, and Zac Hendrix; seven great-grandchildren: David Griesbach II, Kristen Osterhage (Drake), Bryan Mitchell (Alysha), Lindsey Mitchell, Caitlyn Mitchell, Amanda Hicklin and Daniel Hicklin; and two great-great-grandchildren: David Griesbach III and Alex Griesbach. Her skills and interests included sewing and quilting, baking, crosswords, piano, accordion, and traveling the world collecting souvenir spoons. She was eager to learn new things, and later in life she embraced technology to stay in touch with family and friends. Her loyalty to the Seattle Mariners baseball team was remarkable. She was at different times a choir member, a city employee, a costume provider for a ballet company, and an adept at comforting a cranky baby. No one ever left her home hungry. She was baptized, confirmed, and married in the Lutheran Church and her Christian faith was an important part of her life. Her example of living with determination, ingenuity, a nurturing nature and sense of humor inspired those who knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers, Elsa requested remembrances to Hope Lutheran Church, 4456 42nd Ave SW, Seattle, WA 98116 or Habitat for Humanity. Services will be at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 6701 30th Ave SW, Seattle, WA 98126, on Friday, February 27th at 1pm with a reception to follow.
