Fay Louise McCandless

Fay Louise McCandless went home to be with the Lord on January 1, 2013, at age 80, after complications from a fall on Christmas Day. She is dearly loved and missed. Fay was born in Seattle on October 23, 1932 to parents James and Louise McCausland. She graduated from Ballard High School in 1950 and then later from Central Washington College in Ellensburg, WA in 1956, with a B.A. in teaching. That same year she married Sherman McCandless and both of them began elementary teaching careers, including Vashon Island, WA and then many years in Santa Maria, CA until Sherman’s retirement. Fay taught 5th grade until raising her young family became her priority. The two of them returned to WA in 1998.

Fay loved her family very much. She also loved the beach, boating, and had a life-long love of reading, primarily biographies. She and Sherman also traveled extensively in Alaska.

Preceded in death by her husband Sherman in 2006, Fay is survived by her daughters Laura (Phil) Rotta of Kirkland, WA and Leslie (Bob) Stueckle of Colfax, WA and grandchildren Neil, Jeff and Hannah Rotta, Carrie Gerhardt and Ben and Brian Stueckle.

A memorial service for Fay will be held on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at 2 pm at Acacia Funeral Home in Seattle, WA with a reception following. Please join us to celebrate the life of a loving mother, grandmother and friend of great faith in the Lord and His eternal provisions.
