

Fern Alene Sims Hansen was born April 21, 1916 to Clark and Rosa Sims in Rush Hill, MO. She married Harold J. Pierce and he preceded her in death in 1972. Her second husband, Martin Hansen also preceded her in death in 1980. Fern is survived by one daughter, Marian Ruth (David) Zaske; grandson, Scott Haynes; and several great grandchildren. Fern was baptized at Littleby Methodist Church in Rush Hill, MO in 1928 and later was baptized at Highland Park United Methodist by David Zaske in 1987. She grew up on a farm near Rush Hill, MO with five sisters and three brothers. They walked 2 1/2 miles each way to a one room country school and they had the same teacher from grade 1 through 8. Fern later married and moved to Seattle where Marian was born and she was a stay at home mom. In the sixties, Fern went to work for Boeing Aerospace Local 751. When work became scarce in Seattle, Boeing wanted her to transfer to Everett, but that is when Fern deceided to quit Boeing. She joined a water aerobics class and was apart of that group for 20 years. Fern also loved being a part of Highland Park Methodist Church where she would help with their Bazzar's and Rummage Sales. In 2002 Fern became sick, sold her home and moved to Wesley Terrace.
