Frank's life began under the name James Edward Bahr in Denver, Colorado, where he was born on November 9, 1928, to Lester and Edna Bahr. During the hardships of the Great Depression, he was separated from his birth family and was later adopted by Charles and Wanda Still, receiving the name by which family and friends would know him throughout his life. His childhood eventually brought him to Tacoma, Washington, where he attended Holy Cross Elementary School and graduated from Bellarmine High School. As a young man he spent time working in Anchorage, Alaska, before returning to Washington to continue his education at Seattle University and Knapp’s Business school. His primary vocation was that of an accountant.
Frank met the love of his life, Danise Kenny at Seattle University. They married June 15, 1957 and together built a Seattle home marked by devotion, and perseverance. Their marriage of 69 years was blessed with nine children, and a plethora of grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, each of whom remembers him with affection and gratitude.
He was active in parish activities and enthusiastically supported his kids in Boy Scouts and sports. Frank and Danise led the Seattle Eagles Jr. Drill Team from 1972 to 2000, an activity relished by their three daughters.
Those who knew Frank remember a man of quiet character, steadiness, and gentle disposition. He faithfully cared for his family and lived with humility and integrity. Though his early years were marked by uncertainty and hardship, he built a life characterized by stability, commitment, and love.
