Dad- In Loving Memory of George Wilson Bennett December 30, 1947 – January 14, 2025 With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of George Wilson Bennett, a devoted father, grandfather, and friend. George’s life was one of passion, purpose, and an unwavering commitment to service. His legacy will endure in the lives he touched and the communities he helped shape. Born in 1947, George was the third child of George and Margaret Bennett, joining his sisters Betty and Peggy. In the late 1960s, he followed his father’s footsteps and enlisted in the U.S. Navy, answering the call to serve his country. As a courageous sailor during the Vietnam War, George served with honor and dedication for twelve years, marking the beginning of a lifetime devoted to helping others. After finishing his duties with the Navy, George pursued his true passion for art and design, earning a degree in architecture from the University of Washington. As a licensed architect, he dedicated his career to enhancing the communities he served, particularly in his work with the State of Washington, where he designed hospitals that would serve the health and well-being of the region’s people. Among his proudest professional achievements were his collaborations with Native American communities in North Dakota and the people of Samoa. George worked to ensure these communities had a voice in the development of essential healthcare infrastructure, advocating for local employment and inclusion in the design and construction of their hospitals. Through these efforts, George exemplified the principles of equity, cultural respect, and community. Outside his work as an architect, George was a man of deep integrity, compassion, and dedication to collaboration. His values mirrored those of his mother, who served as a social worker for the state of Washington, fostering a spirit of care and service in all who knew them. George is survived by his sons Garfield, James, and son-in-law Alex, his daughters Grace (deceased), Margaret, daughters-in-law Tinah and Tracy, and his beloved grandchildren Atticus, Charlotte, Rex, and Liam. Though George’s passing leaves a great void, his legacy of service, kindness, and dedication will endure through the many lives he touched and inspired. His vision, work, and love will never be forgotten, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Rest in peace, George—you have made the world a better place, and your spirit will continue to inspire those fortunate enough to have crossed your path.
