Gerry was born in Seattle, Washington and grew up in Everett. His parents, Ira and Emma, and brother John “Jack” Morgans preceded Gerry in death.
Gerry attended Roosevelt High School in Seattle, and graduated from the University of Washington in 1951 with a degree in business. While in college, he was a member of the Army ROTC, and later served as a 1st lieutenant during the Korean War. Gerry was a Master Mason and lifelong member of Lodge #141 F. & A.M.
After returning home from the war he married his “lovely bride” and the love of his life, Nola Jean Raskie, also from Washington. He moved with his family to California in 1963, settling in Solana Beach in 1966. During much of his career, Gerry worked in the insurance industry and was a CLU, later working in residential real estate sales in Solana Beach and the surrounding San Diego County area. Gerry retired in 1990.
Gerry is survived by his wife of 59 years; son John “Tom” and his wife Michele; daughter Michelle Lynn Morgans; daughter Mary Anne “Morgan” Smith and her husband Dave; and six grandchildren; Brian, Scott and Kristen Morgans, Mayson and Campbell Smith, and Suzi Van Steenbergen.
Gerry was well educated and an avid reader and history buff. He was known for his humor and puns. His family and friends will greatly miss him. Interment will be held at Acacia Memorial Park in Seattle, WA on August 4, 2011 at 1PM.
