She is survived by her sister Maggie Lindeman and brother-in-law Alan, niece Sonya Weasner and husband Grant, and nephew Alex Lindeman and husband Aaron.
Gerry was born and raised in Seattle, Washington and is the daughter of Sylvia and Harold Howard. She lived in several Puget Sound locations before settling in Clinton on south Whidbey Island where she resided for over 40 years.
Gerry worked for The Boeing Company for 44 years, with the majority of her career spent at the Everett Plant. She worked in such diverse jobs as Drafting and Quality Inspection. After her retirement, she volunteered at local Whidbey thrift shops.
Those who knew Gerry knew what an incredible artist she was. She enjoyed calligraphy and took great inspiration in architecture and the natural world, with much of her artwork depicting sea life and various aspects of Whidbey Island. She received a certificate in Scientific Illustration from the University of Washington.
Gerry was an avid jogger and runner, participating in numerous marathons and fun runs. She also loved bicycling and enjoyed both organized and self-supported rides.
Gerry cared deeply for the environment and was an active member of the Island County Beach Watchers (now known as the Sound Water Stewards of Island County). She loved animals and was particularly fond of cats. She generously supported many environmental and animal charities over the years.
Traveling was one of Gerry’s favorite hobbies and she traveled all over the world. She visited places such as India, New Zealand, Egypt (where she ran a marathon!), Machu Picchu in Peru, Thailand, and much of Europe. She always brought back plenty of souvenirs for her family and friends.
Gerry was a wonderful person, a loving family member, and a loyal friend. She will be dearly missed by all.
We invite you to make a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association Washington State Chapter in her honor.
