Irene married Ernie Williams at age 22 in Seattle. They resided in Seattle until they moved to Mount Vernon in 1952. They built a home on South 11th Street where Irene resided for 65 years.
Ernie and Irene had 3 daughters. Gerene, born in 1945, Gretchen 1949 and Gail in 1952.
Ernie founded Williams and Nulle CPA firm in 1952 which still exists today. Irene was a "stay at home" mom. Ernie lived life to the fullest, Irene and the girls were along for the ride! They enjoyed boating in the San Juan Islands, especially Sinclair where they built a cabin.
The saddest day of Irene's life was when Ernie died at the young age of 39 from a heart attack. That left Irene with 3 young girls to raise. She then started working as a travel agent.
Gerene and her husband Paul live in Brier and have 3 sons, Chris, Matt, and Kurt and 5 grandchildren. Gail and her husband Jerry live in Mount Vernon, their son Ben and his fiance Charissa live in Seattle.
Irene was actively involved in the Mount Vernon community. She loved attending Mount Vernon Bulldog basketball games and was a loyal Husky fan. She has been actively involved in the First United Methodist Church for over 60 years and volunteered at Skagit Valley Hospital for many years.
A very special thank you to Jess and Barb del Bosque who took extra special care of Irene, made sure she had a ride to all of those Bulldog games!
In lieu of flowers, Irene requested donations be made to Childrens Hospital in Seattle.
A celebration of Irene's long, amazing life will be held at First United Methodist Church in the near future.
