Gerald Lee Chase Sr. (Jerry) May 17, 1932 – May 2, 2017. After a long battle with Dementia and Parkinson’s disease, Jerry passed away peacefully at the Soldiers Home in Orting, WA where he had been residing for the last several years. Jerry was born in Seattle and was the middle son amongst his two other brothers. Jerry was proud to be a Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War. A short time after returning home from the war Jerry met his future wife Donna. They were married on September 26, 1952 and had three sons Jerry Jr, John, and Jim. Jerry and Donna were married for over 59 years until her death in 2012. Prior to being placed on active duty with the Marines he was employed by the Kenworth Truck company and returned to Kenworth after being discharged from the military. Later he became a carpenter for a while but the work proved to be seasonal so he was encouraged by his father-in-law John Cornett to become a truck driver for Royal Dutch Ice Cream located beneath the Pike Place Market in Seattle. Royal Dutch Ice Cream was purchased by Darigold so Jerry went to work as an ice cream truck driver for them and retired after more than 35 years of service as a Teamsters driver. He is preceded in death by his brothers Jack and Ken, by his son John and his wife Donna. Jerry will be forever remembered by his son Jerry L Chase Jr. and daughter-in-law Bakan, his son Jim Chase and daughter-in-law Yu Shea and his 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Jerry touched the lives of many with his sense of humor, outgoing personality and zest for life. The family requests that donations be made to the NW Parkinson's Foundation - www.nwpf.org/wellness in lieu of sending flowers.
