Joanne Aileen LaVielle

Joanne Aileen (Gustafson) LaVielle (October 31, 1936 – October 18, 2016) Our beloved Mother Joanne passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 in Des Moines, Washington after a long and fulfilling life. She will be dearly missed by her children, her family and many friends. She was born in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle, the youngest of three children, and the daughter to Marvin and Beverly Gustafson. Joanne had two older brothers Jack (deceased) and Jerry. Joanne graduated from Ballard High School in 1954. Her love for her children was singularly the most important aspect of Joanne’s life. She was a strong yet sentimental and compassionate woman that loved music, family and friends. Her steadfast yet endearing traits have been passed onto her children and grandchildren and will continue to live on through them. Joanne is survived by eight loving children: Michelle, Brian (Nancy), Scott (Jennifer), David (Ron), Gregory, Beverly (Jeffrey), Barbara and Michael (Evelyn). Joanne is survived by twelve grandchildren and one great grandchild: Erik, Kevin, Brandon, Alexander, Samantha, Sarah, Sean, Adam, Shuai, Maxwell, Emily, Mitchael, and one great grandchild, Layla. Joanne’s family invite her friends to join them in a celebration of her life on Saturday, November 12 at 1:00 pm at Dakota Place Park located at 4304 SW Dakota Street, Seattle, WA 98116. Joanne’s interment will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery on November 11, 2016 in a private ceremony. In lieu of flowers, Joanne’s family asks that donations be made in her memory to The Seattle Public Library Foundation (P.O. Box 3951 Seattle, WA 98124-3951).
