Judith Tina Olson Rikansrud, 81, passed away on June 24, 2022, after a sudden reoccurrence of cancer. She was a loving wife, mother and friend. She was so strong, optimistic, and determined in everything she did in life. Even though she was ready to fight cancer once again that was not her path this time.
She was born in Seattle, WA in 1940 with her twin sister Julia to Fred and Inez Olson. She grew up in Ballard along with her brothers Fred and Edward. She graduated from Ballard High School in 1958 then continued her education at the University of Washington where she received her bachelor's degree in Scandinavian studies. She was so special not only to her family but to so many people she touched whether through genealogy, the Olson family, Ballard High School alumni and the BHS foundation. She gave so much through her talents in quilting and knitting and generous gifts.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Raymond and her 3 children Cathy Valenzuela, Sarah Dranberg, and Erik Rikansrud as well as her grandchildren Deon Bertelson, Julia Dranberg, Victoria Valenzuela, Zachary Valenzuela, Tyler Dranberg and her great granddaughter Luica Butler Dranberg. Her loss on earth will be felt by many but she will shine on all of us from heaven.
Memorial donations can be made to the Ballard High School foundation. For information of celebration of life please visit dignitymemorial.com.
