Kathleen Esther Roudybush, commonly known to her friends as Kathy, and later Kate, led a life full of love and adventure. Kate was passionate and generous, and positively impacted the lives of the people who knew her.
Kathleen was born in Kittanning, Pennsylvania on October 6,1952 and was the eldest of eight children to Paul and Janet Roudybush. Kathleen spent her childhood in Ford City, PA and at the age of 17 moved to Eugene, Oregon to continue the rest of her years in the Pacific Northwest, adopting the name of Kate. Kate moved to Seattle in 1978 and became a resident of Kenmore in 1984.
Kate graduated Ford City High and later received an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration from Shoreline College. Kate worked for the University of Washington for many years before transitioning to corporate accounting firms in the Seattle area. Kate was a dynamic office manager and executive assistant where she was meticulous yet playful, adding extra zest to the workplace.
In 1975, Kate met Rick Webster and they married in 1979. Together they raised two daughters, Rachel and Erin, and this past April they celebrated 47 years together.
Kate was enthusiastic about her Seahawks and Mariners. She also enjoyed gardening, reading, and travel. She was spiritual and committed to social justice, women’s rights, and helping people in need. She loved spending time playing games with friends, and was especially dominant at Scrabble. Kate was a loving, kind person and deeply compassionate when it came to affairs of the heart.
Kate was a beloved wife, mother, nana, sister and friend. She is survived by her husband, two daughters, son-in-law, five grandchildren, three brothers and three sisters. In essence, Kate was a unique, self-determined and sparkly person, and she will be missed by many.
