Laurence "Larry" Gordon Paull

Longtime Seattle resident Larry Paull passed away peacefully, surrounded by love and family, on November 30, 2025, after a very brief fight with brain cancer. He often joked that he hated long goodbyes, and he stayed true to that sentiment to the end.

Larry was born in 1949 to Sidney and Toby Paull on the south side of Chicago. After graduating from the Northwestern School of Medicine, he realized that the Seattle area would be his forever home. Seattle allowed him to enjoy the things he loved year-round, especially walking whichever German Shepherd he had at the time around Green Lake. In his younger years, he was an avid runner, backpacker, mountain biker, and squash player.

Larry loved adventure travel deeply. With his brave wife, Marianne, he checked off a lifetime of bucket-list experiences — from trekking in Nepal to running Class V rapids deep in the canyons of Chile and exploring wonders in places like Peru and India. He was also an avid reader, and after retiring from medicine, he often relaxed on his back deck, enjoying the afternoon sunlight with a good book.

The happiest times of Larry’s life were spent with his family, his dogs, and his friends. And if those times happened to include music and cooking delicious food, even better. He was incredibly close to and proud of his three children: Elizabeth, David, and Jennifer. He nurtured lifelong friendships, and many of those friends had an opportunity to wish him well in his final hours.

He is survived by his beloved wife and partner of 56 years, Marianne; his children; his brother, Matthew (Eileen); his sister, Jane (Steve); and his grandchildren, Andrew, Tobi, and Henley.

Larry was rarely seen without his trusty German Shepherd by his side, and his dog, Soleil, is still waiting patiently for his return. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
