OBITUARY

Liam Garrett MacDonald

March 28, 1999May 19, 2018

A visitation will be held on Friday, May 25. This is the opportunity to view Liam and physically say goodbye. There are hours set for this but it is an "open house" style viewing; that means you can come, spend as much or as little time as you need and leave.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 2 which is a more structured gathering/service to listen to others speak and a chance to share your stories about Liam's life. Neither Liam's body nor his cremated remains will be present at this service.

I worked with Liam at the Safeco and CenturyLink stadiums for a season. More specifically I was his supervisor, and I trained him when he first started. He was eager to learn and excited to get started, full of energy. He became a friend to the whole team. We even gave him a nickname, "baby driver". He was a cool person and everyone got along well with him. Sad to see him go but we were confident in him and wished him the best as he went to college. Expecting to see him in the summer for another season. We enjoyed our time with him, we will always remember the jokes he told and how he made us laugh. I am so honored to have worked with such an amazing person and friend.

I would not consider myself a close friend of Liam but, he was still a friend of mine and it hurts me to know that he is no longer with us. Liam was one of the first people that I met on campus. We met at the rec center and we were shooting some baskets and I was able to tell he was not a basketball player. Later in the year, he talked to me about letting him join my intramural basketball and that is when I knew about his love for basketball. He wasn’t the best player but he was always trying to get better and was always excited to play. It is very sad that he passed away so early. He was such a great guy, I wish I was closer to him. Best Wishes to the MacDonald Family.

My name is Jo Dee and my son, Krew was roommates with Liam and Spencer at WWU in the Fall. I only met the boys a few times, but they all seem to have hit it off so well. Knowing he had such great young men as his roommates really put me at ease. Krew sometimes beats to a different drum and it takes a huge heart and and amazing soul to see who Krew really is!

Thank you for raising your son to be so loving and kind to strangers. Thank you for raising him to be a leader and a strong soul. Thank you for raising him to be welcoming and calm to so many who were alone at Western and needed a friend, a kind word, a loving hug, a laugh or a song or just some conversation. It appears that he may have been a little bit of "sunshine" in many, many peoples lives!!! My heart hurts for his friends and family and I pray that God brings you all comfort in knowing how special he was, how deeply he touched lives and that he will forever make a difference to so many.

Krew thought the world of him! HUGS TO YOU!

When my grand-nephew, Liam, was a baby, we only saw pictures of him. (His mom and dad and sister lived in Seattle and we lived in Texas.) It wasn't until his Opa's (my brother's) funeral in Texas in 2016 that we actually met Liam. Wow, he was a tall, handsome teenager, very well-mannered. Even though Liam really didn't know us, he offered hugs and smiles because we were all "family." His joyful personality gave me the impression that he was probably warm and friendly to everyone!

We send our love to you and your family, David Charles, at this very sad time. Memories of Liam are yours to cherish forever.

My name is Jasper and I was one of Liams buds up at WWU. I'm also Wes's roommate. One of the best memories I have of Liam was back in October. He and his friend Crew had just gone out to one of their first college parties. It was about 11 PM and they were not ready to go back to the dorms yet. They promptly raided our fridge looking for any and everything. Me and Wes were laughing so hard. Eventually I offered to make them food, and ended up cooking them bacon for the next 2.5 hours. Then for the next two months everytime I saw Liam he would mention that and thank me for the food. I miss Liam so much, and even though his physical person may not be here anymore, Liam will live on through the memories his friends and family hold so dear.
