Phoebe Lorraine Wade was born on July 23, 1931, in Seattle. She was known by her middle name, Lorraine, from the day she was born. She made many great memories growing up in the Magnolia neighborhood, especially playing make-believe with her older sister, Barbara. Lorraine graduated from Queen Anne High School in 1948.
As a young adult, Lorraine met Bob Meier and knew he was the one for her. They were married on June 5, 1953, at Magnolia Presbyterian Church. Lorraine dabbled in a few different jobs throughout her life, but being a mother to their three children—son Jay (Noreen) and daughters Julie and Janel—was her favorite. After spending most of their lives in Seattle, Bob and Lorraine decided to perfect their tans and moved to Arizona. They were married for 68 years before Bob’s passing in 2021.
Spending time with family was one of Lorraine’s favorite things. She would often say how much she loved hearing all the laughter during get-togethers. Her greatest joy was being a proud Grandma to her eight grandchildren: Justin, Breanna (Paul), Jesse, Katie, Jennifer (Joel), Kenzie, Kayla, and Cameron. In 2025, Lorraine traveled to Seattle to celebrate her 94th birthday with friends and family and was elated to meet her first great-grandchild, Nico, for the first time. Having a large extended family was a great blessing to her, and Lorraine loved spending time with all members of both her and Bob’s families.
