Lourdes Mercadillo Huertas, lovingly known as Dodie, was born on August 27, 1952, in the Philippines and passed away peacefully in her sleep on the morning of November 7, 2025. She leaves behind her devoted husband of 46 years, John Fuentes Huertas (69), her eldest daughter, Janice Huertas Norris (45), and her youngest daughter, Jessica Huertas Constantine (38). Lourdes is also survived by her sons-in-law, William Norris and Zachary Constantine, and was deeply blessed with her grandchildren, Lilian Constantine and Catlynn Norris. On the day of her passing, she was reunited with her angel grandchild, Miles Constantine.
Lourdes was known far and wide for her incredible cooking, especially her Filipino desserts that were loved by everyone who had the joy of tasting them. She was the kind of person who never let anyone leave her home hungry—and always insisted you take a little extra “for later.” She was a loyal friend to many, and though she had only two biological children, she gained countless more through her generosity, kindness, and the warmth of her heart. She cared deeply, loved openly, and made sure everyone around her was truly okay. Her love was always genuine, always felt, and always given freely.
Her faith in the Lord was strong and unwavering. It carried her through years of illness and hardship. Whenever she didn’t feel well, she would smile and say, “I’m going to pray—me and the man above have a good connection.” Her faith kept her going, but so did her immense love for her family and for the many people she embraced as her own.
Though the loss of Lourdes leaves a painful void, we take comfort in knowing her suffering has ended and her body is finally at peace. She will never be forgotten. Her legacy of love, compassion, and unwavering strength will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
This is not goodbye. In the words she always said, “Love you, love you. See you later.”
