Our beloved Mary Colleen Colley who went by Colleen, 67 years of age, passed away after a courageous three year fight with appendiceal cancer. Born in Memphis, Tennessee to Wayne and Marilyn Colley, Colleen spent nearly all of her life in the Seattle area after her father retired from the Navy, moved the family to the northwest, and began working on commercial aircraft for Boeing.
Colleen attended Assumption School in Seattle, John Marshall, and then graduated from Roosevelt High and the University of Washington with a degree in kinesiology. She was a proud Husky and longtime Season Ticket holder.
She worked for 17 years at the Seattle Times early in her career. Later she worked for tech startups and for many years at Microsoft. Late in her career, Colleen became a professional photographer, initially finding passion in sports photography but branching out to many forms. During Colleen’s battle with cancer, she volunteered with Soulumination providing professional photography services to families with a loved one with a life-threatening condition.
Colleen is survived by her long time partner, Adam Stone, their son Aiden, a graduate of the University of Colorado, her mother Marilyn Colley, now 100 years old, and brothers Michael, Glenn, David and Richard. A celebration of life for Colleen is still being planned.
