Mary Ellen Kokoris

Mary Ellen grew up in Manteca, CA, and spent her life deeply connected to her community and family. She was a devoted wife to her husband of 61 years, Stan Kokoris, and a loving mother to her three children: Dr. Sam Kokoris, Maria Kokoris, and Mark Kokoris. She was also a proud grandmother to Jack Cosgrove, Megan Kokoris, and Nikki Kokoris. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Alpena Makis, and is survived by her sister, Cynthia Culp, and her brother, Bill Makis. Mary Ellen will be dearly missed by all who knew her, including her large extended family of Dimotakis cousins.

Mary Ellen worked for 39 years at Doctors Hospital of Manteca, where she began as an admitting clerk in the 1970s. Through hard work and dedication, she attained the position of IT Director. Her work was a testament to her commitment and drive, touching the lives of many patients and staff over the years.

Mary Ellen, also known as Eleni, was very proud of her Greek heritage, visiting Greece many times over the course of her life. She enjoyed Greek dancing and cuisine, often treating her family to delicious homemade Greek cookies, kourabiedes. She was also an avid reader who found joy in books and encouraged others to love reading as she did.

Mary Ellen especially cherished spending time with her family, creating lasting memories and bonds that will remain forever in our hearts.
