

Mercedes was the heart and soul of our family. She raised two children, Grace (Steve) and Tina (Craig), three grandchildren, Roman, Isabella and Quentin Bockhorn. She is survived by her sisters Erlinda Rojas and Gertrudes Yumang. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Rosendo Villanueva, her parents Catalino Sr. and Asuncion Yumang, her siblings, Jose Yumang, Felisa Polintan and Catalino Yumang Jr..
Mercedes was born on September 24,1937 in Macabebe Pampanga Philippines. She graduated high school from Centro Escolar University. There she discovered the love of music and the opera and received credits at the Conservatory of Music. She attended college at the Lyceum of the Philippines and received her Bachelor of Law degree.
In 1965 she migrated to Seattle Washington to live out her dream of coming to America. Her first job was at Seafirst Bank in the banking industry. She later worked for the Work Release Program at the University of Washington, as well as administration at the Oceanography department. She ended her work career at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in administration.
She met the love of her life in 1997 and was married until his passing on April 9, 2024. They were only four months apart in their death anniversary’s. Together they had a love of travel, music, dancing and surrounding themselves with the Filipino Medical Community, that were more like family than friends.
Mercedes greatest joy was her family. She poured her heart and soul in loving them. She had a love for music and the opera and had a voice of an angel. She loved to cook, grow her garden and receiving flowers was always her favorite.
Mercedes, (Nanay) , will be greatly missed. Her love will forever be the light guiding our way. Rest In Peace .
