

Merlyn Lyndon Mecham, 76, of Auburn, Washington went to be with Jesus his Savior on February 24, 2022. Merlyn was born in Grafton, North Dakota on November 1, 1945 to Leonard and Cora Mecham. The family moved to Burien in August of 1952. He graduated from Evergreen High School in 1963.
Merlyn moved to Pasadena, California for work. Merlyn liked to find distant relatives. He would make friends with you. He could talk to anybody. Merlyn was happy with the humble work of serving people. He delivered water, he umpired softball games, and he made sure to have time for thoughtful conversations with people about the things that interested them. If you wanted to talk about baseball, family, or God, Merlyn was an abundant resource. For his last 21 years he drove school buses and helped and befriended many children with special needs.
He was preceded in death by his father, Leonard in 1968, and his mother Cora in 1984, brother Elwood in 1938, and brother Curtis in 2021. He is survived by his brothers William (Anna) of Burien and Richard of Renton, and his sister Gloria (Terry) Blaine of Covington, and numerous nieces, nephews, and grandnieces and grandnephews! Merlyn has no children of his own, but he is known as Grandpa by a few young friends.
