To the Nguyen Family:

We give our deepest condolences and respect to a great man who we come to know very well.  Mung always brightened everyone he see’s here with his great smile, love and personality.  We can’t say in words how much we will miss him and appreciate everything he did for us.  He will always be remembered and honored by everyone here at Lexus of Tacoma.  God Bless and we will all pray for Mung.

I met Mr. Nguyen randomly in the driveway of Khiem’s sisters house, very similar to Scott and Raj. I can’t remember why but we needed to stop by the house and when we got there Mr. Nguyen was outside unloading the car. Khiem told me to wait in the car and I was actually very nervous to see Mr. Nguyen. As I sat there as if I was invisible, he came to the car and waived me out to say hi. He greeted me with a hello and very warm smile. It felt welcoming. The next time we actually had a moment to be around each other it was for New Years in Vegas. He was again, very kind and happy to see me. I’m glad I had the privilege to be around him. 

As a father, I hope I’m able to accomplish the great things you’ve done for your family.

Thank you everyone for joining us for a celebration of life in loving memory of our father, Mung Nguyen.

Dad was an amazing husband, father, and friend. He worked very hard every single day to support the family. Even on his last day at the age of 72, first day back from quarantine, he wanted to come out to work at Titus-Will in Olympia.

On the morning of, Dad woke up at 5am to prepare congee so Mom could have some ready for breakfast. He happily sneaked in a small kiss on Mom’s cheek, and excitedly walked out the door. On the way, he picked up his long-time co-worker and friend Luc. Luc said Dad would always talk about us and Mom, and how we often ate dim sum. When he arrived on site at Titus-Will in Olympia, he gave one of the staff members a great big smile as they described it. He said “It's a beautiful day! I'm happy, it's my first day back!” Staff members told us, Dad never had a bad day. Always greeted everyone at work with his big smile, even on rainy days. 

He was a great role model of a real gentleman. Always positive, always giving, always smiling. He would always put others first before himself, so we knew no matter what problems we faced or what stage of life we were in, he was always there. For example, when each of us bought our own houses, he helped us all move in. He stocked us up on toilet paper, kitchen essentials, and bought groceries. In fact, each time he visited, Thanh’s (aka Sang) fridge was always packed, that Thanh (Sang) had to get a second fridge! Enough to last through an apocalypse! Snowmegaden and covid-19, we were already prepared...20 cases of water, 10 cases of coke, frozen beef, and a bunch of fruits!

Dad never relaxed until we were well tended. He drove everywhere, he cooked, he cleaned for the family. He was always doing something, even washing all of our cars inside and out. It is one of the reasons why we started doing a family trip at least once a year so that we can force him to take a vacation. One year, it was Vegas in celebration of new years. Last year 2019, it was beautiful Hawaii where he got to experience a submarine tour as well as a luau. When he went back to work, he couldn’t stop chatting to Luc about his vacation. This year, we were supposed to take him to San Diego and Houston. Also, he had a passport for the longest time and hardly used it to go anywhere outside of the U.S. until we took him to Canada to enjoy some more dim sum.

Throughout his life, he traveled from Wisconsin to Texas, then to California, and finally Washington. Six years in the army, nine years of manufacturing plywood, carpentry at one point, and then car washing for 25+ years. On applications, Dad listed his favorite hobby as 'physical exercise.' He certainly did what he loved doing to his very last breath. Also, he helped put four kids through college, bought our first cars, danced with mom to 'the moon represents my heart' at a wedding, played with Clayton and Emerson.

He was someone that always loved to take care of everyone. It is sad to see the day when he needed us the most, we couldn’t be there in time to take care of him. But now he can finally rest.

I first met Mung accidently when Thanh was trying to push me out the door, and here came her parents pulling into the driveway.  I helped Mung unload their SUV full of bottled water and food, thus starting an weekly tradition.   Mung always made sure his family was provided for and was always hard working.  Mung treated me like family.

I already miss those days of helping him unload his suv full of food for an apocalypse (or COVID19) and him being around to offer me a coke to drink.  


I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Nguyen when Linda and I were picking up her dog Boxer from her sisters house. She was surprised to see her Dad in the driveway and was a bit shy as she wasn't expecting me to meet her Dad this soon. She nervously told me to wait in the car and said she'd only be a moment. As she walked into the house, Mr. Nguyen waved to me and signaled me to meet him. I stepped out, shook his hand, and introduced myself. He was very kind and welcoming and even offered to help wash my car. Linda eventually came back out, looking nervous with every intent of stuffing me back into the car as if nothing happened. 

I'm very honored to have had the chance to know him and his kindness will always be a lasting memory in my life. May he rest in peace. 

My condolences to your family. Your father is only a wave and hello from next door, but I am all too familiar with the loss of parents. Hope you are all OK in the days ahead.  Randall & Carol.



Mr Nguyen will be missed by all who was blessed to know him, my deepest condolences to the family of Mr Nguyen. I’ve know him for many years from working in the car business in Olympia, Wa. He was always so happy and always made sure to say good morning and exchange pleasantries Weekly, we would wish family filled fun holidays to one another and always speak of the sunshine when it made its presence. He will be missed, we are all very saddened of his passing, many prayers to your family, May he Rest In Peace,
