Nona Castle Hedreen

Nona Castle HEDREEN Loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Nona Castle Hedreen died peacefully on November 21, 2010 at the age of 98. Nona, whose warmth and grace enriched many, many lives, was born on July 8, 1912 and orphaned when she was very young. She was a graduate of Roosevelt High School and attended the University of Washington for one quarter before marrying Guy Noble Hedreen (1909-1993) on December 31, 1931. Nona and Guy, who enjoyed a long and successful career in the insurance industry, lived in Seattle all of their 62 years of married life except for one year in Hanford during World War II. Nona is survived by her two sons, Michael Hedreen (Maryjane) and Richard Hedreen (Elizabeth) and by eight grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 12 step-great-grandchildren. She was a member of a Visiting Nurse auxiliary, a Children's Hospital guild, the Sunset Club, the Rainier Club, the Seattle Tennis Club and the Broadmoor Golf Club, where she served as Women's Golf Captain. Special thanks to her wonderful caregivers, including Linda Smith, Linda Renfro, Mona Riad and Martina O'Connell. Services will be private.
