Patricia “Pat” Rudnicki passed away peacefully on Monday, November 16, 2015 with her son and daughter by her side. Pat was born February 8, 1924 at home in Seattle, the only child of Murray and Sally (Moore) Kenney. She was 91 years old. A lifelong resident of Seattle, she graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1941, briefly attended the University of Washington, and went on to graduate from Business College. She spent the majority of her working career in the insurance industry. Pat retired in 1995 from Oregon Auto/North Pacific Ins. She was a member of the Insurance Woman’s Association, as well as P.E.O., for many years.
She met Frank Rudnicki, a young university student and ROTC cadet, at University Presbyterian Church, where both were members of “Christian Endeavor.” They were married at the church on September 14, 1945, soon after Frank’s return from military service overseas. Pat and Frank remained active in the church most of their lives through “Skymasters” and the “Grout Prayer Group” (Frank sang in the Cathedral Choir). They bought property in the Lake City area (now part of Seattle near Northgate) where Frank, family and friends built the family home, which was added onto and remodeled over the years. Their son, Bruce, came along in 1949, followed by their daughter, Jeannie, 1 ½ years later in 1950. Pat and Frank had been married 54 years at the time of his death in 1999.
Pat is survived by her son Bruce and wife Jane, her daughter Jeannie and husband Mike Cunningham, grandsons Brent Cunningham and his wife Sarah Smyly, Bryan and his wife Amy Cunningham, five great grandchildren, McKenzie, Myah, Merin, Emma, Ethan, and many cousins. She loved and was loved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed by them all. Pat is at home with her Lord and has been reunited with Frank.
Memorial Service will be held Monday, December 7, 2015 at 2 p.m. at University Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers memorials can be sent to: Medic One Foundation, Mail Stop #359747, 325 Ninth Av, Seattle, WA 98104 or to University Presbyterian Church Missions, 4540 15th Av NE, Seattle, WA 98105.
