

Patrick Alex Tomaszewski passed away on December 7, 2025, at the age of 73. He was born to Patricia Mary Morrissey and Kazimerz Marjon Tomaszewski in São José dos Campos, Brazil, on March 26th, 1952. Patrick attended St. Joseph School, Garfield High School, and graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Washington.
He moved to Seattle when he was five and quickly took to life as an American and an adventurer. Patrick achieved the rank of Quartermaster in Sea Scouts, sparking his interest in being at sea. He had an impressive career as both a marine engineer and a port engineer, which required extensive travel for many years. Patrick was passionate about ships and exploring new places. He was an avid reader, history buff, hiker and a big fan of music, classic movies, sudoku, sports and being outdoors.
Patrick was a loving husband to Elizabeth Yarington, whom he met when he was nineteen. They married in 1980 and had two children, Bridgid and Sean, as well as many pets over the years. As the oldest of six kids, Patrick was a devoted patriarch to his siblings and their children. He really enjoyed spending time with everyone when his work permitted it.
Patrick is survived by children Sean, Bridgid and son-in-law Aryaveer, sisters Barbara and Angela, nieces and nephews Alek, Gillian, Peter, Emma, Patricia, Christina, Alex, Sophia and Mark, in-laws Mary, Marty, Shirley, and extended family in Australia, Poland and the UK. He will be greatly missed and forever loved.
A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Parish in Seattle, with Rev. Mike Bayard, S.J., as the presider. 732 18th Ave E Seattle, WA 98112.
