Phylis Marie Heurion passed away September 4th 2021.She was born in Butte, Montana on July 9th 1927 to P.J. & Kathryn Cavanaugh. She graduated from Butte Central in 1945; she attended St. Catherine College in St. Paul for 2 years before transferring to Montana State in Bozeman, Mt. graduating with a BS degree in microbiology. After a one year internship at St Vincent Hospital in Billings, she returned to Butte, to work as a Medical Technologist at St. James Hospital. Phylis met her future husband Bill Heurion, at a St.Patricks picnic in 1955.
After getting married in 1957, they moved to Great Falls where their 2 children were born. In October 1961, her husband, who was in the Army Reserve, was called to active duty during the Berlin Wall crisis and was stationed at Fort Lewis. A few months later the Army decided he and his company were no longer needed. After his release in March of 1967 the family moved to West Seattle settling in the Gatewood hill area and joining the newly formed Our Lady of Guadalupe.
Phylis worked at the West Seattle Hospital as a Lab technician for 27 years. Phylis was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brother’s Jack & Jim & grandson Kyle at age 16. She is survived by her son Steve (Carol) grandsons Preston & Floyd; daughter Annette (Rance) Ricks; sisters Kathy (Bill) Clements; Ann (Monte) Geiger; sister in-law Janet (Phil) Ganson; & several nieces & nephews. A Memorial Mass at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in West Seattle at 11:00 A.M, Wednesday, October 6th.
