Richard Martin Noffsinger passed away on Thursday April 25, 2013 at the age of 87. Born in Seattle, Washington on July 30,1925 to Martin and Margaret Noffsinger. A lifelong Seattle area resident, he grew up in the Laurelhurst Hills neighborhood and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1943. After high school, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps where he was a navigator on the B-29 aircraft. He went on to attend the University of Washington from which he graduated in 1949. It was at the U of W that he met his wife of 59 years, Greta Pearce Noffsinger.
Dick, as he was known to his friends, spent many years in the commercial real estate business following his many successful years in the heating oil business. He had many interests and passions including Husky football, skiing, and playing golf at Sand Point Country Club where he was member for over 50 years.
One of the consistencies in his life was the continuous presence of a dog by his side. He made them as much a part of the family as he could. This translated to his relationships with people as well. His large capacity to love allowed him to create a family out of people that walked into his life, whether they were in-laws, children's friends, or others that he met along the way. He was a generous contributor to a number of different organizations enriching the lives of many. Unquestionably, his greatest love was his family. Four children and six grandchildren are indelibly influenced and blessed by his wisdom, but most of all his unwavering love and support. From spontaneous vacations to nights sitting around the dinner table, he transformed every moment into an unforgettable experience that integrated education, entertainment, and enjoyment.
He is joining his wife, Greta, and oldest daughter, Carolyn. He is survived by his daughter Sandi Wagner, son-in-law Greg; son Richard Noffsinger, daughter-in-law Terri; son Rex Noffsinger, daughter-in-law Tracy; and six grandchildren: Cortney, Bailey, Kasey, Joanna, Angela, and Marty. He will be greatly missed by those he left behind.
A celebration of life will be held at Sand Point Country Club - 8333 55th Ave. NE, Seattle, WA on Sunday April 28, at 3:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Carolyn Noffsinger Memorial Scholarship Fund -- https://www.washington.edu/giving/
