Richard met his future wife, Beverley, while he was working in a horse stable near Wichita Kansas. They married and began their long partnership of 67 years. Together they raised 5 children and many fine Morgan horses in Kansas and in Washington State. Richard was an aviation engineer.
After visiting the Seattle World's Fair in 1962, Richard and Beverley moved their young family to the Seattle area. Richard especially loved the beauty of the beaches, waterways and mountains in the northwest. He remained active raising horses, as well as in his local church. And both kept busy raising the family.
Richard loved music, especially old time music, and played several stringed instruments. He taught many of his children to play instruments.
In later years, Richard took great delight in his many grandchildren, never missing a sporting event or concert as they were growing up.
Over the years Richard became an avid birdwatcher and was a reliable source a bird identification.
Richard passed away peacefully at Regency Care Center in Monroe Washington on February 11th 2019.
He will be dearly missed by family and friends.
