Richard Arlen Weaver

May 16, 1928January 17, 2021

Richard Arlen Weaver passed away on January 17th, 2021 peacefully at the age of 92.

He was born on May 16th, 1928 in Yakima, WA to Donald and Lois Weaver. He had two older brothers, Kenneth and LeRoy and two younger sisters, Dona and Sharon who have preceded him in death.

Richard grew up in Yakima, WA and attended Seventh Day Adventist Christian School where he met the love of his life, Sally. Richard and Sally were married on June 30th, 1948 (Sally’s 19th birthday) and celebrated almost 69 years together.

Richard was a hard worker all of his life. In the early years of his marriage, he worked in Yakima at Cement Products while Sally was a stay at home mom. After a few years, the family moved to Seattle where Richard landed a job at The Boeing Company. In 1958 they built a home in Lake Forest Park where they resided for 59 years.

Richard was a faithful man and full of integrity. This showed in all that he did for his family and work life. During his 32 years at The Boeing Company, he worked his way into management and supervised the parts and heat-treating areas until he retired in 1988.

He had a passion for his family and he was always thinking of others. He gave of his time and resources without a second thought while requiring nothing in return. His sense of humor was infectious and his smile brightened your day. Richard and Sally could be seen daily at lunch time enjoying a cheeseburger and a Frosty at their favorite hangout. In his typical friendly fashion, Richard made friends with the employees and patrons and soon looked forward to seeing all his friends each day at lunch. Richard loved to travel, take long drives, and took many photos of his adventures and family. One of his favorite pastimes was watching old westerns and he had many of them memorized.

Richard is survived by his daughter Shelly and son in law Jerry, grandchildren Angie (Jim), Carrie (Sean), Evan, Nathan, Jacob (Susana), Brandon (Amanda), and Samantha. He had thirteen great-grandchildren—Zack, Molly, Finley, Thomas, Sally, Seamus, Wesley, Avery, Olivia, Violet, Elijah, Luke and Zayne. His adoring wife, Sally, and his sons, Rick and Jeff preceded him in death.

Richard will be missed beyond measure and leaves an amazing legacy. Those who knew him loved him and told him often—to which he would reply… “I love you more”.

Due to Covid restrictions, a private invite only memorial will be held on February 24th at 2pm held at Acacia Memorial Park & Funeral Home in Seattle, WA.

My husband Patrick and I have been friends of the Peltiers for years and at their family gatherings Dick always made us feel like part of his family too. He was funny and kind. He was loved by many and will be missed.
