Russell Tee Jackson, beloved first born son of Tee and Robbie Jackson, was born September 4, 1959, at Fort Monmouth, N. J.in the Army hospital. The family moved to Seattle when he was two years old. He passed into the arms of the Lord on April 6, 2014, in Seattle, following a sudden massive heart attack.
Russ (R.T.) was an exceptional person. He was a loving and devoted son providing companionship and support to his mother in his later years; a great brother to Martin, and a good friend to all who knew him. He was a devoted Christian who studied Hebrew and Greek to better understand the Bible, and he spent many hours on the computer tracking down articles that would widen his faith and add to his knowledge of Christianity and other religions .His large collection of religious books was greatly prized.
Poor health had plagued him in his latter years. He suffered two strokes, the first one in 2007 that left weakness on his left side and the second one in 2008 that left him with swallowing problems that resulted in a feeding tube being placed in his stomach. But these challenges never stopped him. He worked diligently to overcome these deficits—engaging in demanding physical and speech therapy without complaint. He took up Yoga and practiced Tai Chi with guru Dr. Colleen Hart to help with balance and core strength. He continued his Tai Chi study with the Tai Chi at Alki group. As a member of the Highline Athletic Club he never missed as opportunity to walk their track upstairs. He trained for and successfully completed the 5k Burien Bavarian Brot Trot two years in a row. .
As a man of many gifts: he was a talented, but untrained, artist and a successful classical pianist in his teens and early 20s. And he was a creative chef and collector of kitchen cookware and gadgets. His massage therapist delighted him one Christmas by gifting him with a chef’s coat which he wore with pride. His last purchase was the NuWave Oven in which he cooked chicken and vegetables and was planning on cooking roasts and steaks when he had the fatal heart attack.
He was an accountant who was also an aspiring realtor. He spent recovery time after the strokes toward the Real Estate License Exam-- and, amassing a large library of real estate books. He loved history, musical comedy, his Toyota Rav4, popcorn, chocolate, growing peppers and tomatoes on his kitchen porch, his church, joking around; he always found something to interest his inquisitive mind.
He leaves behind to mourn his loving mother Robbie, father Tee, brother Martin, his long-time friend Gayle Score, and numerous relatives in Yakima and Oklahoma and many friends in Seattle, all of whom he treasured.
Russ, you left this world far too soon. Loving you and missing you with all our heart—your grieving family. May be the Lord bless you and keep you until we meet again, our wonderful Russ-T.
