

Sally S. Mackey, age 85, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2026, in Seattle, Washington. She was born on June 24, 1940, in Seattle, where she spent her life surrounded by family, friends, and community.
Sally grew up at the Seattle Golf Club, where her father worked as a professional golfer. She was proud to be a member of the first graduating class of Bishop Blanchet High School in 1958.
After earning her teaching degree from Gonzaga University, she traveled the world and worked overseas as a teacher for the Department of Defense, experiences that shaped her adventurous spirit and love of learning.
She later transitioned into commercial real estate banking, where she worked through four bank mergers over a 28-year career while also raising her daughter as a single mother. After her retirement, she devoted over 2,000 volunteer hours to the Woodland Park Zoo, a place she cared deeply about.
Sally loved reading “cozy" mysteries, working on jigsaw puzzles, crocheting, and baking cookies for social events in her Noble Firs community.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Zongker and Ione Zongker (Marsh).
She is survived by her daughter, Katy Stone, and son-in-law Rick Stone, along with her granddaughters, Amelia and Maggie Stone.
Sally will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, adventurous spirit, and the care she showed to those around her.
