Teresita delos Santos Lusuegro passed away on Monday, October 14th, 2024 in Edmonds, WA from cardiac failure. She was 65 years old. Born the 4th of 9 children in Guihulngan City in Negros Oriental on September 27th, 1959, Teresita (Tess to her friends and Sita as a childhood nickname) had fond memories of fishing with her father and selling their fares at the local market. At the age of 12, she moved to Manila to live with her Great-Uncle and his family and seek schooling in a bigger city. In 1986, she married her husband, Ricardo, and they shared a 38 year-long marriage. Moving to Saudi Arabia then Vancouver, BC with him and their 1 year old son, they finally settled in Seattle in 1991 and welcomed their daughter.
Her life revolved around her main three F’s: Family, Faith and Food. Her greatest pride in life was her family, which grew in size with her son’s marriage and the birth of her first grandson, August in 2022. Throughout her life, she showed her passion and care for people through her cooking (she was especially famous for her lumpia and pancit) and would often cater for family parties and church events for the various parishes and Filipino communities she was a part of. She also owned a small business, subcontracting the linen department at a party planning company for over 20 years. Through her business, she was able to “pay it forward” by employing many family friends over the years. Upon her retirement in 2019, she was the longest tenured employee at that company, to date.
She is survived by her husband Ricardo (Rick), son, Ericsson, daughter and daughter-in-law, Kirstie and Morgan, and grandson, August. Her viewing and funeral service will be held at Acacia Memorial Park and Funeral Home in Lake City and will be interned on Thursday, October 31st at Holyrood Cemetery in Shoreline after a Funeral Mass at St Pius X Catholic Church.
