

Thomas L. Dahl, age 87, died after a courageous battle with cancer on the 20th of June, 2017 in Seattle, Washington. Tom is survived by his wife Beverly of 64 years; his brother Jerry Dahl of Bremerton, Washington, his children Eric (Terrie), Diane, Jenny (Jeff), and six grandsons; Eric Jr. (Camie), Ryan, JT, Derek, Chase and Dalton. He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank Andrew and Suzanne Francis Dahl, of Tacoma, Washington. Tom was born on November 25, 1929 in Tacoma, Washington. He graduated from Stadium High School with the class of 1948 and went on to the College of Puget Sound, graduating in 1952 with a degree in Accounting and International Business. He later earned a Master’s Degree at the University of Washington. Tom and Beverly married in 1953 and soon after moved to Peru where he worked as an Accountant for Cerro de Pasco Corp; a copper mining company in the Andes Mountains. In 1957, Tom and Beverly returned to Washington State and purchased their home in West Seattle. Tom accepted a position as a Spanish Teacher at James Madison Junior High School, before transferring to Kentridge High School to teach Accounting and Business classes. Tom retired in 1990 after teaching 33 years. Tom and Beverly enjoyed travelling the world, visiting more than 40 countries and travelling extensively throughout the United States. Tom was very active with the Alki Masonic Lodge #152, Order of the Amaranth, Seattle Commandery No. 2, the Scottish Rite, the York Rite, Order of the Eastern Star and a member of the Nile Shriners Oriental Band. He was committed to helping children in need of the services offered by the Shriner’s Hospital and reaching as many of them as possible. His family and friends will always remember him as a caring and passionate person who wanted to be remembered as someone who made a difference in people’s lives. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday July 14th, 2017 at 11:00 am, at the Forest Lawn Funeral Home in West Seattle. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Tom’s name to the Shriner’s Hospital in Spokane Washington.
