Timmy was welcomed into the world on August 18, 1989 in Bakersfield CA by La Donna Mae Ojeda and Timmy Mearl Givan Sr.

Timmy was a graduate of Federal Way HS. His teachers say he was an outstanding student and that he was well known for his love of telling jokes and funny stories. Timmy was a true scholar athlete lettering in tack, football, and wrestling. His favorite sport was wrestling and he earned a medal at the state championships. His academic and athletic skills won him a Governor’s scholarship and a Rotary scholarship to Central Washington University where he majored in Criminal Justice.

Timmy had a protective side and cared deeply for his brothers and sisters and all looked up to him. His Aunt says that he was honest with them calling them out as needed but that they knew it was done with love. His friends were friends for life. Even after he moved north he stayed in touch with those he had left in California.

Timmy loved the ocean and the wilderness spaces here in Washington. He’d take any opportunity for a BBQ in Lincoln Park or at Lake Taps. He loved good food from BBQ to his Mom’s Puerto Rican specialties. His foster mom still laughs about when he discovered lobster for the first time and he declared it to be the best thing ever!

Timmy’s compassionate heart was stilled on September 8, 2020. Our hearts are broken with his loss but we know he is with God and are grateful that his suffering here on earth has ended.

My Love for you was always unconditional...

As I took a spiritual inventory of my life, I realized that every day, every moment, I am writing my own eulogy. My words, my actions, my thoughts, and my love are being “written” in my heart and soul and are likewise being recorded in the hearts of my family and fellowmen. If I don’t like how that eulogy is being written, then I need to change it, and I can do that through repentance and through striving to do better and be better. That is one of the great blessings of the gospel. Daily preparing for dying, as strange as that may sound, powerfully affects our daily living. As Shakespeare wrote, “Be [still prepared] for death; either death or life / Shall thereby be the sweeter”

Each of us—whether we are nine or ninety—is, in reality, living day by day. I may have plans and goals for weeks and months and years to come, but, nonetheless, my life is in the Lord’s hands. For me, the phrase “living day by day” doesn’t mean that I don’t have a long-range view. In fact, it is just the opposite. Living day by day means doing everything each day with an eternal perspective—recognizing that today might be the day when I am called home.

Because of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ, I rejoice in my understanding of the purpose of this estate and the meaning of death. I rejoice to know that death is not the end of life and love. I rejoice to know that my loved ones whom I am separated from for a season are not far from me.
