Virginia Barbara Galbraith (Peterson), age 88, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 14th surrounded by her family. She was a lifetime resident of Seattle, born August 10, 1923 to Robert and Caroline Peterson. Virginia, know as Ginny to family and friends, was preceded in death by her husband David in April 2010 and her brother, Robert C. Peterson in 2003. Ginny grew up and lived in the Phinney Ridge neighborhood, graduating from Ballard HS in 1942. During WWII, she worked as an office assistant for the U.S. Navy on Pier 91. It was during this time, that she met the love of her life, David Galbraith, with whom she was married 63 years. After the War, they settled into the house they built in West Seattle where they raised their children and lived the remainder of their lives. Ginny was active in her community, winning the Golden Acorn award from Seattle School District as well being the Wedding Coordinator for Fauntleroy United Church of Christ for many years. Ginny was an accomplished artist and cook who loved to entertain. She was always very creative when it came to planning parties for her kids and family. We especially enjoyed her imaginative ways of giving us birthday cards with that something special hidden deep within the card. She is survived by her three children, Janine (Jerry) Skaga, Jim Galbraith, and Jeryl (Richard) Ameny; her four grandchildren, Joelle (Tim) Skaga Nausin, Jana (Brett) Skaga Shearer, Sam Ameny and Sarah Ameny and her great granddaughter, Clara. She enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, traveling, and spending time with her family. Ginny will be greatly missed by her family. A Memorial service will be held at Fauntleroy United Church of Christ at 9140 California Ave SW on Tuesday, January 24th at 2pm.
