

Wendell Norwood was known as many things to many people. He was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew him best, Windy will be remembered as an outstanding individual. He was the son of Francis Raymond and Inez Guyman Norwood. Windy grew up in Boisie, Idaho and Walla Walla, Washington. Windy was an United States Navy veteran. Windy saw action for two and a half years during World War II. Through his hard work, he achieved the rank of Torpedoman's Mate Second Class. His fellow soldiers viewed him as a brother in arms and knew that he was as much a part of their family as their loved ones back home. He moved to Seattle, Washington in 1957. Fortunately, Windy enjoyed what he did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Windy worked diligently and did his best to succeed in his career. He was employed for 29 years with Boeing before opening and operating "Windy's Coin and Collectibles" for 22 years. Windy always sought to be a team player, doing what was necessary in order to get the job done. Windy passed away on January 22, 2007 at Highline Hospital in Burien, Washington. He is survived by his wife of 59 years Dorothy; his son Richard (Debra) Norwood; his daughter Barbara Norwood; grandchildren Michael and Daniel; brother Earl and sister-in-law Vivian; several nieces and two nephews. Services were held Saturday, January 27, 2007 - 10:00 AM at Yarington's Funeral Home: 10708 - 16th Avenue SW, Seattle, WA. Windy was laid to rest in Washington Memorial Park in SeaTac, Washington. Simply stated, Windy was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by his family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Windy leaves behind him a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life he touched will always remember Wendell Norwood.
