Born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, Alida came to the United States in her early twenties and eventually made New Jersey her home. She dedicated her life to her family, lovingly caring for her son, her parents, and eventually her grandnieces and grandnephews, whom she absolutely cherished.
At the core of Alida’s life was her deep, unwavering faith. Quiet and reserved by nature, her kindness extended to anyone and everyone fortunate enough to meet her. She treated everyone; family, acquaintances, and strangers alike; with profound dignity, respect, and care. During difficult times, she was a constant source of spiritual support, regularly offering prayers for anyone facing hardships. Her faith was especially reflected in her love for reading religious texts as part of her daily life, holding a deep devotion to St. Michael the Archangel.
Alida’s source of joy came from the simplest things in life, like decorating her home and tending to her plants and flowers at home. Those who knew her remember her warmth, her grace, and quiet dignity.
She is survived by her beloved son, Manny; her brothers, Jose Alberto, Jose Matias, and Jose Dolores; her sisters, Miriam and Rosario; her dear nieces Cherie, Lisa, Susan, Jennifer, Martha; and countless extended family members and cherished friends, including the McLaughlin family, who welcomed Alida with open arms into their hearts and home.
In accordance with her wishes, formal funeral services will not be held. However, the family will coordinate a Mass in her honor in the near future to celebrate her memory and pray for the repose of her soul.
“Que San Miguel te bendiga y te proteja.”
