I have said it before, and I will continue to say it as long as I am on this Earth: Life is just not as much fun without Angelo. I knew him for over 40 years, and I consider myself very fortunate that fate brought him to downtown North Bergen. The only thing I regret is that we did not make a trip to Italy and Sicily; he really wanted to see where his family was from. We did make it to Walsall England, where he was born and spent his first 8 years; he was able to go inside his old house. I am very glad we made that trip; we even got to see the Queen in a parade to celebrate her Official Birthday. Too bad the Queen did not invite us over to Buckingham Palace for tea; she missed out on an enjoyable afternoon.
We also visited the former homes of 2 of the greatest Englishmen of all time-
Winston Churchill and Benny Hill. They only lived about a block apart. Now that is something Angelo could appreciate.

They say that nature abhors a vacuum, but the vacuum you left still hasn't been filled. Wish you were here.

Five years my friend is gone and everyday I remember something funny he said or some cazy antic we shared. His humor and joy were bigger than any regrets or discontents that life may have brought him. From our childhood he was a bond always present even over great distances. 
I cannot say I miss his laughter because it rings in my ears everytime I think of him. I miss him yes, but to have known him is a gift.

Angelo was a great guy and I wish he was still with us. Life is less fun without him. Anyone who knew him will agree with me. Anyone who did not know him is all the poorer for it.

Angelo-we miss you very much.The world would be a better place if their were more people like you around.

Today is Angelo's 52nd Birthday. I have some suggestions as to how to remember him. Listen to William Shatner's "Has Been" album. Watch "Monty Python's The Meaning Of Life". Sing "California Uber Alles" while waving a bone in the air. Go out
for some really good sushi. Visit a really good brewery and sample the product. Watch a Yankee game and a Giant game. These are all ways Angelo enjoyed spending his time. I really miss him and I always will. Our lives are poorer without him. I just hope he is spending eternity someplace enjoyable. I can tell you this-if Angelo is there, it is a great place to be.

I think of you every day my friend and good buddy. Sometimes I howl in anguish, other times I'm moody and sulky all day.
Then there are days like today when I realize what a gift your friendship was and how lucky I am to have been so close.
I'll miss you my whole life but I won't let you down. Our laughter and imagination still fills me. It's full of stars just like you said.

Cant believe it's been two years since you left us Ange. so many people have a piece of themselves missing now.

It is two years today since Angelo left us in one sense, but in another sense, as long as all of us who knew and loved him are here, he shall never leave us. I believe we will all be reunited with him some day. Life is not as much fun without him, but it has gone on. I am sure he is quite pleased with the Giants Super Bowl season; I hope that the Yankees can also win a championship this year as well. In 2 days I am supposed to meet William Shatner, a celebrity Angelo really enjoyed. I do wish he was here to meet him along with me.

Missing my best friend a little more today. Wish we could celebrate at the stadium like we did last time.

I feel qualified to post a message on Angelo's behalf-GO GIANTS! Give my regards to Vince Lombardi and Tom Landry.

Tomorrow September 29 would have been Angelo's 51st Birthday. I have been trying to think of an appropriate way to mark the occaison; it should be something silly, bawdy, involving lots of laughter and good fellowship. I think he was the most positive person I have ever known, much more so than myself. Life is not as much fun without him, but I consider myself fortunate to have know him for over 40 years. Happy Birthday, Ang; I hope they have sushi in Heaven.

My family and I met up with Mike Baffuto in New Orleans last week for my daughter's graduate flute recital.  I hadn't seen Mike in over thirty years, so there was much catching up to do in four short days.  Not a day went by that we didn't hear wonderful Angelo Giambona stories.  All were a testament to Angelo's love and affection for family and friends.  He seemed to be so many things to so many people.  My sympathy to all who loved Angelo so deeply.  Although I cannot begin to imagine the pain Angelo's mother bears, she must be so proud to have raised such a beautiful, genuine, and generous son.

Always treasured, remembered and prayed for.  Looking forward to our reunion in Heaven one day.  I hope God allows you to do the cookin cause no one made food and served it sat a shared it like you...with all your heart.

Angelo...I just can't believe a year has passed so quickly. It feels like yesterday we held your hand for the last time and told you we loved you forever. When will the lump in my throat go away? When do the tears stop? How does a broken heart heal? Be happy in heaven and, yes, we will see you there.

It is one year today since Angelo left us physically, but in another sense he shall never leave us. As long as we are here on this Earth we will think of him and smile-he was a very special person, and we were all lucky to have him in our lives. I believe we will all be together again someday. I am counting on Angelo to introduce me to
Babe Ruth, Elvis Presley, and John Wayne.

We said goodbye to Len's stepfather, Mike, yesterday at Holy Cross and went to visit Angelo on his birthday eve. Left flowers and a "Reserved Parking for Yankees Fans" sign in honor of his birthday. The last time I saw Angelo was New Year's at Paul and Ronnie's. We talked about what kind of party we should have to celebrate his and Len's 50th birthdays together. Never could I have imagined that we'd mark the occasion with flowers in a cemetery. Nor could I have imagined that it would coincide with the day we said farewell to Daddio. Hey, Paul--save us some of that port.

I miss you so much Ang. It would have been so nice to have a big celebration for you. You will never ever ever be forgotten. Love you always, Sara, Anthony, Nicky and Catie

Wednesday September 29 2010 is Angelo's 50th Birthday. It would be nice if he were still with us-we always came up with fun ways to celebrate. Last year we went to Yankee Stadium and saw the Yankees beat the Kansas City Royals in a walk-off win. I ordered birthday greetings for him for the message screen at the Stadium;
he really seemed to enjoy that. That was the last Yankee game he ever witnessed in person. Life just is not as much fun without him. I will be 50 in January; I plan on writing about my first 50 years. There is no way to write about my life without writing about Angelo. The biggest regret I have is that we never made a trip to Italy and Sicily; we wanted to do a roots trip. I consider myself fortunate that he was a part of my life for over 40 years. He was the best.

A Prayer For Angelo:
If I had the chance to tell you, and know that you would hear, I'd say how much I miss you and then I shed a tear;
Unfair that you were taken, a light that shined on us, Never a complaint , never made a fuss; maybe if we knew your pain you'd still be here with us.
Instead in heaven you turn 50, with angels to help you sing; Here we can only pray for you, no presents left to bring. 
You'll never be forgotten, so loved are you by all. We hope you're happy up in heaven, since you left upon God's call. 
We love you and we pray for you; God's love will keep you near. You'll be forever remembered, sweet Angelo, my dear.

I've made several attempts to write something here for Angelo, but have always found it to be too painful to do so. Whenever I experienced some difficulty do doing anything my brother was always there to help out. Well, even after his passing he has helped me again. You see Angelo was a writer, and I have had access to some of his works...among them I found this:

I used to carpool to college with Angelo many years ago. He was a friend whose company I enjoyed. We made movies together, and we had fun together. I will miss him. My sympathies go out to his family. May God bless you.

My sympathy goes out to Angelo's family and friends. I knew him through my cousin Michael Baffuto. We shared some great times and conversations together. Angelo was a great man with a big heart & fantastic sense of humor. He could make you laugh so hard that your stomach would hurt. I'm shocked and saddened to hear of his passing. The last time I saw Angelo, we shared a classic Italian meal and bottle of wine together. I will always remember him. God bless you my friend.

Angelo and his family have been in our thoughts and prayers.  As evident by the outpouring of love, Angelo's kind words and overall demeanor were so meaningful to so many people.  Our Sunday morning visits to Cannillos were more than just buying great food, it was visiting a friend.  We will never forget Angelo and he will always be an inspiration for us.

Angelo was my Bob Hope, no matter how bad things seemed, you could always count on Angelo and his unique sense of humor to make you feel better.  He was one of those guys that only comes around once in your lifetime if you're lucky.  I'm proud to have known him.

I was so very sorry to hear about the passing of your brother Angelo.  I know I only met him once briefly during one of your holiday parties, but what I have heard about him from his friends and family it sounds like he had a heart of gold and that he will be missed terribly by all who knew him.  It was nice to see so many of his friends and family at his wake service.  I know that so many people came to pay their respect to a great man. Angelo was a great man, always sincere and giving. He had a great love for life and music. Angelo always had a big smile on his face and could also put a smile on anyones face. Our friend, Michael Baffuto, introduced us to Angelo at one of Roger's concerts and to Angelo's loving food baskets. It is always so sad to hear of a dear soul leaving this world. Saddest for those who will daily miss the loved one. Grief is  painful  but as we let God guide us through the process we will come out into a brighter place but always missing the tender one who is now in the brightest place of all - at the hand of God. Our prayers are with you all.

I just had the good fortune to cross paths with Angelo on Facebook a few months ago, my first encounter with him since we both graduated in '79. He was a unique individual, one who never failed to make me laugh. He will be missed.

The constant battle, the struggle of daily living which is obvious since the moment one is born; to the moment one physically dies glazed with occasional flashes of joy and passing pleasures, has come to an end for my friend Angelo.  But, when there is love in our hearts and it is shared with everything and everyone it touches, then time and space ceases to be and that is where Angelo is. The battle is over - love is.

Although I'm extremely sad to say I haven't seen Angelo since our North Bergen High School graduation, my memories of him are crystal clear--a dear person, a beautiful soul, a good heart.   Through the years, my mom and brother Robby would tell me of his success at Cannillo Brothers.   They both OFTEN praised Angelo's amazing work ethic, his unparalled kindness and respect for every single customer, his pride in delivering delicious and pleasing dishes to all.  He treated the public like family.  Robby had been telling me for months that his sandwiches were the best in New Jersey.  :)    My prayers and thoughts are with Angelo, his mother, siblings, nieces and nephew, friends, and loyal patrons of his store.  His time here was too short, but his contribution to humanity incalculable.  It is not an exaggeration to say that the earth is a kinder, gentler, and better place for Angelo Giambona having been in it.  Such pure and honest goodness I will never forget.

Angelo you are the man with a heart as big as the sky....what words are there to explain the love with which every individual was greeted with whether a familiar face or not, whether rich or poor, when entering the doors of Cannillo's... we all are part of your "family".  I will never forget all the time you spent with my Father listening to special songs that held great meaning to Dad...sitting with him and appreciating every story he told and valuing his great wisdom.  You have been like a son to him.  Cannillo's is a home away from home for my Father and many others because of the great love and warmth we are always greeted with and that stems from the heart of both you and your brother Joe. What a privilege it is when someone  receives from a priest the Annointing of the Sick before leaving this world as you did....it is a guarantee of straight entrance into Heaven with God.  What great consolation to all of us, most especially your dear and holy Mother.  Enjoy what the Scriptures say about Eternity with God in 1COR 2:9-10..."NO EYE HAS SEEN, NOR EAR HEARD, NOR THE MIND OF MAN EVER FATHOMED WHAT GOD HAS PREPARED FOR THOSE WHO LOVE HIM!".......and Wisdom 4:7-15 begins with "BUT THE JUST MAN, THOUGH HE DIE EARLY, SHALL BE AT REST.  FOR THE AGE THAT IS HONORABLE COMES NOT WITH THE PASSING OF TIME, NOR CAN IT BE MEASURED IN TERMS OF YEARS.....We never say goodbye....but "until we meet again".  We will continue to pray for you...please intercede for us.

Angelo was the epitome of a "good guy" always with a smile on his face.  I got to know him through my brother Sal's friendship that spans decades. He will  be missed.  Such a loss for his loving family.  Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this most tragic time.
